Materials are the key performance contributors for products of ContiTech Advanced Dynamics Solutions. As Head of Post-Development within our central R&D Material Development Group you will be responsible for our serial materials (rubber compounds, textiles, etc.). You will ensure expectations of the customers are met and we maintain our position as a leader of technology in air suspension, precision sealing, and anti-vibration solutions in commercial, automotive, industrial, and rail markets. • Lead, develop and coordinate resources of highly qualified international team of material developers
• Maintenance and optimization of existing materials and technologies (leading, steering or coordination):
• Change management of serial materials (R+D or customer driven): e.g. raw material replacement, sustainability and innovation initiatives, cost reductions, quality improvements
• Serial production support (manufacturing driven): identify and implement technical production process optimization potential (compounding/mixing, vulcanization, calandering, extrusion, injection and transfer molding, etc.)
• Manage product specific ramp-up or change projects for e.g. new/relocated production processes
• Global interface to serial production worldwide (production and compounding plants) for materials for all segments/product groups
• Central contact for the MD department regarding material and processing trouble shootings in the plants (in close cooperation with Quality and Product Industrialization)
• Support solving of quality issues regarding internal and external customer complaints by material tests and analytics (e.g. rheological, mechanical, chemical, physical properties)
• Ensure that customer's chemical and environmental regulations requests for our raw materials and rubber compounds (REACH, etc.) are fulfilled
• Drive activities to improve, harmonize and standardize procedures as a part of lean and agile organization
• Provide guidance to colleagues from other departments regarding rubber technology related topics and chemical expertise
• Academic degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar
• Solid background in development and testing of rubber, elastomers, composites or similar
• Comprehensive experience in rubber and plastic production processes
• Understanding of rubber-to-metal, -textile, -plastic bonding technology fundamentals
• Strong analytical and customer-oriented thinking, leadership and collaboration skills
• Sense of urgency in completing projects on time and effectively
• Intercultural fluency
• Project and team management experience
• Fluent English language skills
• International travel necessary to support worldwide AD plants
